San Diego might offer you a great deal on a home

March 31st, 2010 by admin

Last year I went on a vacation to San Diego and had a great time. The weather was great, the people were fun, and I escaped a shark that looked like he was going to get both my legs. All in all, it was the best vacation I’ve ever had.

When I got home I got to thinking seriously about my future. I live in a very cold climate and it sure seemed nice in San Diego all year around. I  asked my wife if she thought we should move there when I retire from my job. She said that it might be a good idea, but we should look further into the state of the real estate market there. I agreed to this, thinking that the market would present us with no problems.

It turns out I was right, thought not for the reason you might think. San Diego has faced some rough times in the last few years with the housing crisis and all. Homes got up to unsustainable price levels and people could no longer afford to pay their mortgages. This and other things set off a chain reaction that ended up forcing San Diego foreclosures like you’ve never seen before. It got pretty bad in some places, with for sale signs all over the place.

The good news is that my wife and I will probably be able to find a killer deal when we decide to move there. If we can find a short sale, we will be as good as golden.
