Packing and Moving

Moving is never a fun job for anyone. Some people will just hire a company to come in and pack it all for them, but most of us can’t afford to do that. We need to take care of packing ourselves. The place to start is with the right packing supplies. Without the right supplies moving is going to be even more of a hassle. Having what you need is going to help make sure that the packing is done right, and it will be easier to unpack when you get to your new home.

The kitchen can be a difficult place to pack up. There’s always the fear that everything will break along the way. That’s why you need to make sure that you have the right packing supplies for your kitchen. Don’t use just any old box, purchase boxes that are made specifically for the kitchen and its contents. Kitchen boxes are extra strong and durable to keep your breakables safe. Don’t forget to use plenty of bubble wrap, but don’t wrap the items too tightly, you want want to damage them while wrapping them.

When packing the bedroom you’ll want wardrobe boxes for the things hanging in your closets. Don’t just take things off a hanger and throw them in a box, take advantage of the packing supplies available and use a wardrobe box with a hanger bar. When you get to your new home you’ll be able to open the box and hang your clothes back up right away, making unpacking just a little bit easier. You’ll also want to look into frame boxes if you have artwork or a lot of framed pictures. Make sure you use bubble wrap to wrap the frame before you put it in the box.

For the large furniture that you have in your house there are other packing supplies that you’ll want to consider. Wrapping your furniture with stretch wrap will keep the edges protected and keep your furniture from getting scratched. You’re also going to want moving pads or blankets to protect your furniture. Make sure that no two pieces of furniture are actually touching within the truck, keep a pad or blanket in between all surfaces.
