Making the Most of Floorspace

August 15th, 2010 by admin

House prices may be falling like a stone in some places, but real estate is still our biggest investment. That means floor space in any home is a value and in a city might mean a very high value per square foot, and consequently small average homes. This means that when it comes to providing the necessary storage space for modern living you need to make efficient use of that floor space you have available.

It makes sense that where floor space is very limited the use of a tall cabinet here and there will be a very practical solution. After all, when space is so confined, it does make sense to go upwards rather than outwards, and a low cabinet does really waste the air and wall space above. it is not just in small homes that this principle applies but in small rooms in a larger home too, such as in a bathroom or guest restroom. In fact it is in the bathroom where you may find a tall cabinet most useful.

Another way of making full use of space in a home is by utilizing the corners better. So, by using a corner tall cabinet you may get double benefit space wise.  An additional attraction to the corner tall cabinet though is the same as for all corner storage units; they can look particularly attractive and also break up the cold right angles of many homes. In fact often the corner cabinet designs, as with corner showers and vanities, tend to be more attractive than others.
