Wedding speeches or toasts are a very important part of any wedding ceremony.  They are designed to give the wedding guest an inside look at the personalities of the wedding couple. In most wedding the speeches or toasts are usually given by the father of the bride, groom, best man and  maid/matron of honor. Though all of the speeches given are an important part of the ceremony, this article is going to focus on the father of the bride speech.

When the wedding speeches or toasts are given, the father of the bride is usually the first person to give a speech or toast.  They are introduced by the master of ceremonies or the best man. When he begins to give his father of the bride speech, he usually starts by thanking the guests for coming to his daughter’s wedding.  He usually follows that by highlighting different aspects of his daughter’s character and life.  This is followed by the introduction of his new son-in-law. After his speech, he usually gives a toast to the happy couple.

Of all of the speeches given at a wedding, the father of the bride speech is  probably the most sincere and emotional speech that will be given. There are steps that will make his speech memorable and a success.  He should wait to start his speech until all the guests have been seated and are quiet. From there he should welcome the guests and follow that by welcoming the the grooms family in his family. The next aspect of the speech should be about the ceremony and how nice the bride and groom looked and how beautiful the ceremony was.

Once the father has welcomed everyone, he can continue his father of the bride speech, with highlights about his daughter.  These highlights should be memories that are both funny and sincere. These highlights should be followed by sincere words about the wedding, such as how lovely she looked and how he felt when he heard their wedding vows.  The father of the bride speech should let his daughter know how proud he is of her.

Before giving the toast to the happy couple, the father of the bride speech usually includes some advice to the happy couple, about marriage.  At this time the speech can include advice, that he has learned from his own marriage. This advice should include examples of how to keep the marriage happy.

Once the father of the bride speech is finished, the father of the bride should toast the happy couple.  This toast should include a wish of a happy life together and many happy memories through out their married life.
